A Japanese leaflet that has surfaced hints at a big whopper of a reveal that will supposedly rival Darth Vader’s parental reveal at the end of Empire Strikes Back. StarWarsNews.Net has a translated version of the leaflet that reads as follows:
The Most Shocking Truth In Star Wars History Will Soon Be Revealed!
“A new generation’s tale of the struggles of light and dark, virtue and evil has begun with the death of Han Solo.
In a Galaxy where First Order and the Resistance are fighting against each other in a war, the heroine, Rey, had the Force awaken within her.
What will happen to the galaxy when Rey and the only remaining Jedi knight, Luke Skywalker, meet?
Kylo Ren has fallen to the Dark Side of the Force and killed his father, Han Solo. As a successor of his grandfather, Darth Vader, and a high ranking enforcer in the First Order, where will his ambition lead him to?
Furthermore, Kylo Ren’s mother, the leader of the Resistance, Leia, Poe, Finn, and BB-8, will embark on a new mission!
The story has finally begun and it will lead to a mysterious climax!

This leaflet basically comes right out and says that this reveal will “surpass the other stories” so it’s a little hard to see it topping the Vader reveal from ESB. While I’ve always speculated that The Last Jedi will follow ESB’s structure of putting the characters through hell while revealing something big, this pretty much confirms it, but we still don’t know what it will be. Most likely, the shocking twist won’t be revealed through spoiler reports or any of the film’s official marketing, but as time goes on we may be able to piece it together.
The one reveal that a lot of us didn’t see coming was that Kylo Ren was the son of Han and Leia. After reading almost all of the spoiler reports from The Force Awakens, that was one thing I literally didn’t see coming. So, in that sense, Lucasfilm could actually pull this off an surprise us all, however the question remains – What is it?
It could be anything from Rey’s parentage or how and why she was left on Jakku. It could also be a big secret about Snoke and his true identity or something in Luke or Kylo Ren’s past, possibly having to do with why Luke left the new Jedi Order and/or how Kylo is involved in that. It could also be something we have no clue about that will be as much of a surprise as Kylo’s lineage in The Force Awakens.
The flyer also mentions that Poe, Leia, BB-8 and Finn are off on a mission, which is strange because from previous leaks, we know that Finn and Rose are on their own mission. Maybe the two groups’ missions are related, but Finn and Rose go off to do the legwork.
This leaflet may not be entirely true but it’s a good jumping off point for us fans to do what we do best: speculate.
Either way, we’ll all find out in seven more months when The Last Jedi hit theaters this December.
