Dr. Who fans rejoice! Matt Smith has been tapped for “a key role ” in Episode IX.
Variety reports that the former Dr. Who star is set for a role in JJ Abrams’ last installment in the Disney-era trilogy.
Being that everything is under wraps for this film, we don’t know much more than the fact that Smith has been cast. Now, being Star Wars fans, we will now let the speculation run rampant.
Will Smith be part of the Resistance or the First Order? Will he play Thrawn?
Nobody knows!
He does kind of look like Thrawn, but fans speculated that about Richard E. Grant’s role and he shot us down, confirming that he is not playing the infamous Grand Admiral.
