According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kathleen Kennedy has renewed her contract to continue her presidency as the head of Lucasfilm until 2021.
The film producing juggernaut shows no signs of slowing, nor stepping down, as previously false rumors had suggested this summer.
Even with the financial failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story, grossing a low $392 million, (for Lucasfilm) Kennedy had a few projects in the pipeline, even after Disney CEO, Bob Iger said there will be a slow down of Star Wars content in the coming future.
The end of the Skywalker saga, Episode IX hits theaters Decembar 20, 2019 and Star Wars Resistance premiers this month on The Disney Channel.
THR reports that sources have said Lucasfilm will be ceasing the numbered films to focus its efforts on TV shows, which will beging airing on Disney’s still unnamed streaming service, late next year. We have Jon Favreau’s live-action series, which is currently casting now, as well as the mentioned, but still far, far away Rian Johnson trilogy. Plus, there is still the upcoming content from Game of Thrones’ David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Whew!
With all of this going on, it may be a slow down but we will still be getting some steady Star Wars content with Kathleen Kennedy at the helm.
